PRIDE GUIDE 1996 GAY PEOPLE'S CHRONICLE

Cleveland Pride '96 parade priorities

Following is the statement and list of objectives of the Pride '96 parade.

We, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community of the Greater Cleveland area, call on our local, state and federal public officials to use the power of their office to make the following agenda items a reality:

Our civil rights in housing, employment and public accommodations.

■ Equal rights in child custody, adoption and foster care.

■State and federal recognition of samesex marriages.

An end to racism, sexism, ageism and homophobia.

■ Increases in funding for AIDS education, research and patient care, and universal access to health care including alternative therapy.

Reproductive rights and increases in funding for women's health issues, especially research for women's breast

cancer.

■Truth in education and acknowledgment of gays and lesbians in all curricula. An end to violence directed towards members of our community.

We have a life-not a lifestyle.
